Commercial Soil Laboratory

Experiment Status Page

Summary

There is currently no soils analysis laboratory in Tanzania that provides both soil analysis and fertilizer recommendations. This type of service is greatly needed for the agricultural sector and research activities in Tanzania. Currently, the Soils Science Department at SUA uses its laboratories for teaching and research. The establishment of a commercial soils lab at SUA gives the university an opportunity to set itself as a key player in the agricultural development of Tanzania. iAGRI is partnering with the Soils Science department to identify the required equipment and management structure that is needed in order to establish a commercial soils lab. The commercial lab will both provide highly needed services to the agricultural sector as well as generate income for the department and university.

Current Status

The Soils Science department is considering different equipment options for upgrading the laboratory.
