U.S. Researchers traveling to Tanzania

You are coming to Tanzania solely to work on your collaborative research project.
Visitors must fill out the Travel Information Form and the Seminar Information Form prior to travel for a driver to meet you at the airport. For more information, please see sections 2 and 3 below.
iAGRI Collaborative Researchers are in large part responsible for planning their trip with their Tanzanian collaborators. However, iAGRI does provide transportation between the airport in Dar es Salaam and Morogoro. In addition, we will help publicize your seminar. Please be prepared to cover all in-country expenses and save receipts for reimbursement. The Consortium contact at your institution can provide further details about how to handle your travel expenses. Please refer to the Traveler’s Information Guide for information and advice.  Then follow the steps below to schedule each trip. This will help ensure iAGRI has the necessary information to support your efforts:
1. Select Travel Dates, Purchase Ticket, and Obtain Passport

Travel dates should be selected in concert with your research team and with reference to the Sokoine University Almanac. When you are ready to book a ticket to Tanzania, please ensure that it conforms to the Fly America Act, which applies to any flight paid for with US government funds. You should make arrangements to obtain a passport if you do not already have one.

2. Complete and Submit Travel Information Form

Please complete the online Collaborative Researcher Travel Information Form at least four weeks before your departure from the US. The information will enable iAGRI to arrange an airport pick-up and accommodations. We will also schedule an introductory meeting with the iAGRI Project Management Unit early in your visit.

3. Plan Meeting Schedule and Seminar

Work with your research team to secure office space, meetings, and a classroom or departmental seminar. This seminar is required as part of iAGRI capacity-building efforts at SUA. Once you have agreed on a date and topic, submit the Collaborative Researcher Seminar Information Form so iAGRI can help publicize your event.

4. After Returning to the US

Please complete the Travel Report Form (click the link, then select download). The data collected on the forms is used in iAGRI’s reporting to USAID. Submit your completed form to David Hansen at hansen.4@osu.edu and Emmanuel Rwambali at rwambali@iagri.org.
